BFSDoArt celebrates scholarship and award recipients
Donors, faculty, staff, students and friends of the Betty Foy Sanders Department of Art (BFSDoArt) gathered Friday, March 30, to honor the Statesboro Campus undergraduate and graduate scholarship and award recipients for the 2018-19 academic year. During a ceremony at the Georgia Southern University Center for Art & Theatre in Statesboro, these students were recognized for their outstanding achievements, hard work and dedication. The students will have the opportunity to share their work in the department's annual Ovation exhibition in the fall. Betty Foy Sanders Department of Art announces Juried 2018 winners
The Georgia Southern University Betty Foy Sanders Department of Art (BFSDoArt) is hosting "Juried 2018," an annual showcase of undergraduate student artwork, in the Center for Art & Theatre's Contemporary Gallery on the Statesboro Campus, March 30 - April 6. The exhibition features a variety of media the department teaches such as drawing, painting, jewelry, multimedia, mixed media, photography, printmaking, sculpture, and ceramics. The exhibition was juried by Ashley Zelinskie, an internationally-exhibited artist based in Brooklyn, NY. Kristen Pritchett was awarded Best in Show for her ceramic work, "Brick." Elaine Ball received the award for Exceptional 2D Design for "Self-Portrait" while Marian Trainor received the award for Exceptional 3D Design for her work "You Fool, I Will Not Die with You." Charlynne Crutcher received the Juror's Choice award for "The Delivery" and Soleil Collins received an Honorable Mention for "Untitled." Other students whose artwork is featured in the exhibition were Rachel Borkowski, Paige Dixon, Allison Exley, Elaina Frampton, Thyatira Grant, AnnaBrooke Greene, Savannah Knauss, Erin Maurer, Tommy McMillan, Lyanna L. Mitchell, Abigail Morgan, Mallory Morgan Sahle, Raven Waters, Gherri Weekes-Garnette, Krisann Wellington and Sydney Wright.

University of North Georgia President Bonita Jacobs recognizes students who achieved a 4.0 grade point average during the fall 2017 semester. Computing Showcase highlights College's student talent
Students in Kennesaw State's College of Computing and Software Engineering recently demonstrated their talent, creativity and ability to put what they've learned in the classroom into practice during the biannual Computing Showcase, also called C-Day. The culminating event, presented at the end of the fall semester, attracted dozens of student projects which were then judged by 18 industry professionals in five categories. Graduating students displayed their posters, video games and prototypes that highlighted their experiences within internships, team projects, research endeavors, and capstone and thesis work. More than 40 undergraduate and graduate students were honored with first, second and third place honors in five categories. On July 21, Oglethorpe welcomed 84 incoming students for the third and final summer orientation, known as a MAP (Making a Petrel) Day. Oglethorpe's mascot is the Stormy Petrel. During MAP Day, these first-year students enrolled in their fall semester classes and received their official Petrel Pass student IDs. Classes start August 21, 2017.
